Telecommunication related subjects are part of the curricula provided by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics. The Department of Telecommunications is responsible for the education and the research of telecommunication engineering. The Department of Telecommunications is composed by more than 40 permanent faculty members and more than 50 PHD students participating in its doctorate schools. Apart of them a number of research associates participate in various research projects. The Department of Telecommunications has well established research laboratories in various fields of telecommunication engineering (Communication Network Design, Mobile Communication and Computing, Networking Technologies, Stochastic Modelling, Cryptography and Systems Security, Signal Processing, Image Processing). All of them have conduct active research cooperation in industrial and public founded research projects. BME actively participated to FP6 projects, being involved in more than 20 projects considering the ICT field.
Role within the project
Within NAPA-WINE BME will participate to tasks on WP3, WP5 and WP6, being leader of WP3. In particular it will collaborate with POLITO and ENST in tasks for traffic characterization using queuing theory and Markovian models. It will coordinate tasks on traffic measurement, involving the three operators (FT, MT, TP). It will address slowly adapting layer 3 routing within WP3.3. At last, it will participate to experimental activities and to dissemination
